Marvin’s grand opening set

Marvin'sMarvin’s Building Materials and Home Centers of Fayetteville is just a few weeks away from the grand opening on March 2.

“Retail in the Building Material and Home Center category will change from that point forward in Fayetteville and Lincoln County,” stated Melissa Smith, assistant manager.

“I’ve trained in other Marvin’s stores, and it is a different shopping experience. I don’t know anybody that goes to market like we do. Our mission is about making our customers’ lives easier. Our outdoor store allows you to drive through a clean and neatly paved area to shop with your vehicle. You don’t have to have a ticket to drive through.

“Associates load your vehicle with bulk items from lumber and building materials to mulch and top soil.

“Or, if you prefer, we deliver it for free. We flex the number of cash registers that are open to make sure wait times are minimal. Marvin’s has the low prices of a big box, but the customer service and feel of a hometown hardware store.  If by some chance you find a price at a local competitor on a comparable item that is lower, we beat it by 10-percent.”

“Marvin’s store layout is a bit different,” Terry Richey, district manager, told The Elk Valley Times.  “Most retailers subscribe to a race track layout that forces you around the store to complete your shopping experience. We purposely designed a very wide center aisle in the middle of our store to allow our customers to shop where they want and get in or out quickly. Wide aisles, clear sight lines and a brightly lit store allow our customers to shop on their terms, not ours.

“At Marvin’s, we strive every day to make sure we can identify and take care of our customers’ building material and home improvement needs. Remembering that has kept us in business since 1945.”

Marvin’s product selection is specific to the communities they occupy.

“We pick the best product at an affordable price for our customers, keeping quality in mind,” said Merchant, William Wright. “We subscribe to a leading consumer reporting agency magazine and online research. Our buyers work hard to get the best quality product at the best price for our customers. We don’t try and offer everything; however, we can special order most of it. We respond to community requests for product and ensure we offer affordable quality solutions.

“For example, we carry the traditional and popular finishes in light fixtures. If you want brass, brushed nickel or oil rubbed bronze, we have a great selection at great prices in comparison to small and big box home centers.  Also, we organize our stores as customers have shown they like to shop. For example, while you are picking out your light fixture, you can shop all the electrical plugs, switches, wall plates and so on by color, not by type.

“Again, everything we do is based on feedback to make it easier on our customer,” said Wright.
